Welcome to FISHO – an ART SLASH FISHING SLASH FASHION EXPERIMENT

The fascinating thing about fishing — the lure is different for everyone, but it’s somehow absolutely universal too. As someone who fishes saltwater, freshwater, and brackish mangrove swamps, eats my children’s Goldfish crackers, binge watches Alaskan crabbing videos, and wears salmon-patterned socks — I’ve often thought: Why isn’t there a magazine that casts a super wide net on fishing as a lifestyle

New FISHO Issue 03:

LOS ANGELENOS

From landing in LAX, to untangling a ten-pound carp from a shopping cart in the LA river, this issue 03: Los Angelenos showcases 48 hours of pure FISHO mayhem fuelled by Celcius, In-and-Out burgers, fumes of sleep and extreme love for the local crews who rocked their boats and kept the bass counter clicking like crazy. Featuring immaculate colorways, calico candy, smoking hot playlists, seal sex, 24-carat midnight bites, punk nasty pirate life, blonde bombshells and a shovel-nosed sandshark, this issue holds a motherlode of personal meaning to me. Why? Because of the kindred FISHO spirits who made 64 pages of perfection, possible.

FISHO Issue 02:

NORTHWEST NIRVANA

Seattle. The Emerald City. Archipelago of moss and sprawling maritime life and fashion capital of whatever keeps you dry as long as it’s not an umbrella. This latest issue of FISHO features the Squid Games of the West Seattle ferry terminal, road-tripping the Cascade Ranges for skinny rainbow trout, loitering the Golden Gardens boat ramp, foggy panoramas and the gorgeous paraphernalia of commercial fleets moored at docks, plus the local FISHO’s themselves - salty young sea dogs, a Somali Uber driver, my neighbor sporting an epic vintage Sonics jacket, and more. Welcome to an oystercore odyssey through Nirvana, minus the unhappy ending.

FISHO Issue 00:

STREET GUMBO

In Street Photography there's a technique called ‘Fishing.’ Pioneered by Henri Cartier-Bresson, it involves finding the perfect frame, waiting patiently for the subject to pass through…and SNAP. Issue 00: ‘Street Gumbo’ is the best of my urban and outdoor adventures thrown into a pot and boiled up into something I hoped was beautiful, weird and totally new. Apparently folks really liked the flavor - all copies have been shipped out but feel free to take a taste-test below, or check out the latest FISHO issue 01: ‘Northwest Nirvana’ right here.
